Ikarus Observatory

This is our outreach observatory used for public outreach, amateur astronomy outreach and professional demonstrations

Ikarus Observatory was launched in late-2019 by First Light Optics (FLO) in partnership with various manufacturers to create a remote telescope that could be used for outreach, marketing and educational purposes.

This was used extensively during Covid to provide free data published under a creative commons attribution-noncommercial licence for people to practice their processing skills on. It was also used for a number of outreach events with societies and the public.

As a result of the success we had with v1 of the Ikarus Observatory when an opportunity arose at Pixel Skies to have two enclosures of our own we jumped at the chance!

Now we have multiple setups: Deep Sky, Planetary / Widefield and Solar which we use for testing equipment, outreach, data capture, science demonstrations and for fun!

We have huge amounts of experience operating remote observatories and the logistics and requirements to set them up so if you are thinking of a remote setup, please do get in touch and see how we can help!
