The roof system is fully automated using a range of state-of-the art monitoring and control equipment.
Observatory Control
The observatory roof system is controlled by a Lunatico dragonfly system which is monitored by a Lunatic CloudWatcher device in combination with an on-site weather station.
This continually monitors cloud cover, rain, temperature, wind speed, relative humidity and brightness levels to automatically open the roof when safe and to close it whenever conditions require.
In addition we run an all-sky camera and a sky quality meter to keep a record of sky conditions.
